The middle child of Chevrolets sedan trio in 1955 was the 210 range, one rung above the 150 while a rung under the topshelf BelAir. MotoeXotica Classic Cars is proud to offer this 1955 210 Fourdoor Sedan. This is a one familyowner car, overalloriginal car that has been in storage for almost 40 years. Even the spare tire has never been used We acquired the car from a California owner who purchased the car from the prior owners family. The mileage of 19,977 is said to be original, but we have no documentation in hand.

Built in GMs Tarrytown, New York factory, this car left the line painted India Ivory over Shadow Gray Metallic (code 624). It was delivered to Murphey Chevrolet Co., Inc., in Westerly, Rhode Island. On July 8, 1955, the original owner, who lived in Stonington, Connecticut, traded in her 1939 Chevrolet for this 210. The new car came with the following options tinted glass, heater and defroster, directional lights, the aforementioned twotone paint and automatic transmission.

While the cars roof is still India Ivory, the Shadow Gray portions are now black. The cars paint and trim are in overall excellent order. The bodywork is straight and solid, the cars engine bay is quite tidy, the battery appears newer and the cars chrome bumpers look great, as well as provide contrast to the black paint.

This 210 rolls on wide whitewall tires, size G7815 at all four corners. Each steel wheel within a tire is topped by a factory wheel cover. The wheel covers are in decent condition while the tires are in fair order and after being stored with the car for so long.

Under the hood is Chevys durable, wellknown 235 CID straight sixcylinder engine that can trace its roots back to the 1929 ad tagline, A Six for the Price of a Four. Backing the motor and its onebarrel carb is a Powerglide twospeed automatic transmission and a 3.70 rear end.

Inside, the car has its original Dark Blue Gabardine and Light Blue Patterned Cloth interior (code 503). The front bench seat is in satisfactory condition, and there are blemishes on the drivers side, but original. There are mats on the floor and the light blue headliner is still in great condition. A twospoke steering wheel faces the driver while the blue, metal instrument panel and inner door panels are in very good order. Fuel gauge is inop. and the left side vent window is cracked. Rounding out the interior are a factory AM radio and a Realistic cassette deck installed below the dashboard.

The Chevrolet TwoTen, or 210, was the midrange model of the Chevrolet car from 1953 to 1957. It took its name by shortening the production series number (2100) by one digit in order to capitalize on the 1950s trend toward numerical auto names. The numerical designation 210 was also sporadically used in company literature. It replaced the Styleline DeLuxe model available in previous years.

The 210 was the bestselling Chevrolet model during 1953 and 54, offering a balance of style and luxury appointments unavailable in the base 150 series, but was less costly than the glitzy BelAir. The 55 model year marked the introduction of a new chassis and the debut of thesmall blockV8. The center door frame was beefed up for more safety.Brakes were 11inch drums. The 210 buyer was free to choose any powertrain option available. The ammeter and oil pressure gauges switched to warning lights.

Documentation includes the original car invoice and check used for down payment, original owners manual, various fuses and light bulbs and an eightcassette package of 101 Hits of the 1950s and 1960s Rock n Roll Jukebox Superstars.

Competition to this 210 in 1955 included Fords Customline Fordor, Hudsons Wasp, Kaisers Manhattan, Nashs Statesman Super and Plymouths Savoy Sedan.

If a simple classic American car from the heyday of the mid1950s is more your speed, or if youre looking for the foundation for a new project, this Chevy 210 might be just what youve been seeking. Drop by MotoeXotica Classic Cars today and check it out for yourself
