A fabulous and rarely seen early Ahrens-Fox model known as the Rolls-Royce of Fire Engines. These grand and imposing machines are impressive in their scale and in their engineering excellence with massive engines powerful pumps and of course the signature chrome sphere on the pump. This outstanding 1918 M-K-4 has a well-known history having originally served in Mt. Vernon New York. In the 1950s it was retired after a long career and sold via Stuart Sears of Milford Connecticut to the Chief of the Branford Connecticut fire department who kept it for his personal enjoyment for use in parades and gatherings around the Connecticut shoreline.The truck remained in the care of the same family from 1953 through 2023 being treated to a well-earned restoration along the way. It presents today in lovely condition with high quality restoration showing a light patina from age and enjoyment. Numerous details include dual wooden ladders period-style fire extinguishers polished nickel and chrome brightwork and much more. Powered by a massive 750 cubic-inch inline-six it also features a 750-GPM four-piston pump mounted ahead of the front axle and topped with the famous chrome air chamber which smooths the action of the pump to reduce firefighter fatigue.
