1930 Ford Model A

Price: USD $44,500
For nearly as long as the automobile has existed owners have been tinkering with them to extract more speed better handling and reliability. Prior to the advent of mass production automobiles were generally luxury items and any customizing was done on a bespoke basis. However once Fords ubiquitous Model T hit the scene the market was suddenly flooded with affordable automobiles that could be tweaked modified and adapted for just about any imaginable job. As the Model Ts popularity grew so did the aftermarket that supplied tools and parts to service it. Fords were converted for use as farm implements work trucks sawmills delivery vans and inevitably racing cars. Pioneering petrolheads found numerous ways to extract more power improve handling and enhance usability from the omnipresent T. This tradition and passion from car enthusiasts to make cars faster never stopped and continued into the late 1920s with the release of the Model A and well into the 1930s with the Model B. Chopping frames fabricating parts and modifying engines to gain a few more MPH was what it was all about. The fascinating little 1930 Ford Speedster presented here is a wonderful period piece featuring a narrow all-steel custom-formed body including a steel belly pan. The body has been finished in a lovely blood-red while the frame and suspension components remain black providing a very racy look. The unique custom stainless steel mesh grille blends nicely into the front shell and is marked with a hand-painted gold number 2. The bonnet is clean and sleek continuing the black red and gold theme throughout. Sweeping past the bonnet and the open-air cockpit leads to a sharply tapered tail again marked by a hand-painted gold number 2.This 1930 Ford Speedster was constructed from an early Ford chassis that has been narrowed shortened and Zd in the rear and fitted with Model A axles. Its powered by a built Model B engine with a Stromberg carburetor and a 12-volt ignition system. It sends power to the rear wheels via a three-speed manual transmission with a center-positioned gear shifter that sits between the drivers legs and engages using a hydraulic clutch. This speedster has a traditional side exhaust and stops using a four-wheel brake system with an external hand lever. It rides on 21-inch wire wheels fitted with bias-ply tires. The single-seat cockpit is spartan and simplistic with just enough room for a driver. It is equipped with a leather-padded seat a custom brass and alloy half-moon steering wheel an oil pressure gauge a temperature gauge and a speedometer. As offered this extremely well-built 1930 Ford Speedster has benefited from sparing use in recent years and is presented in superb condition with incredible paintwork. Thrilling to drive with a fabulous exhaust note from the bold side-mounted exhaust pipe this captivating Speedster is suitable for a wide range of exciting vintage driving events where it will surely attract admirers wherever it appears.Offers welcome and trades consideredFor additional details please view this listing directly on our website https://hymanltd.com/vehicles/7782-1930-ford-model-a-speedster/
