This 1960 Deutsch Bonnet HBR-5 is an extremely rare example having a Perspex roof which was a factory option on only a small number of cars. Chassis #1160 is an excellent restoration candidate retaining its original matching numbers engine. It also comes with a second engine as well as many parts. This car can be restored for concours, street use, or as a vintage racing weapon...your choice.
Deutsch-Bonnet produced the HBR-5 between 1954 and 1960. This beautiful coupe was a dual purpose machine intended for both race and road use. Due to its wind-cheating design and its potent and reliable engine, the HBR-5 was the car to beat in its class at racetracks in Europe and the USA. Howard Hanna drove his DB HBR-5 to an SCCA National Championship in 1958 and Ray Heppenstall repeated the feat by racing his DB HBR-5 to an SCCA National Championship in 1959. HBR-5 cars are coveted by collectors and nice restoration candidates like this one are becoming increasingly difficult to find.
