This 1964 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible is a beautifully restored Vette with tasteful upgrades and an outstanding look! When Chevrolet introduced the Corvette in 1953, its fiberglass-bodied design was quite novel for the time and its 2-seater convertible configuration was typical for fancy imports, not an American-made automobile at the time. The earliest Corvettes were also notably reserved in the performance department, coming equipped with 6 cylinder engines and interestingly, only automatic transmissions. Of course, for the next decade or so the Corvettes image transformed from a reserved boulevard cruiser into a performance-oriented American sports car leading to its first major body-style change in 1963. The 1964 Corvettes saw the removal of coupes split back window that impeded the drivers view as to what was behind them. The hoods were also cleaned up with the removal of the brightwork inset in 1964, leading to a much cleaner-looking front end appearance. On the performance side, the C2 Corvettes also came with a bevy of engine options including the top of the line 327 cubic inch V8 equipped with a Rochester fuel injection system that created close to 400 horsepower, that rivals the horsepower output of more modern C4 and C5 power plants in terms of horsepower output. In total, Chevrolet produced 10,919 Corvette Convertibles in 1964 which makes this Stingray a pretty rare piece of automotive history. This particular 64 Corvette comes to us from a southern based collector who clearly took great care of this convertible while under their stewardship. Powering this 64 Corvette is a numbers matching 327 cubic inch V8 engine upgraded with a Rochester Fuel Injection system. The Numbers Matching V8 is backed by a 4 speed manual transmission that makes this classic Corvette an absolute blast to drive! Power is send from the Fuel Injected 327 through the 4 speed transmission to a Positraction rear differential that helps ensure that youll be able to keep the rubber to the pavement especially with all that extra horsepower under the hood. Exhaust exits the Fuel Injected power plant via a pair of side pipes that produce a terrific throaty sound and give the car an even meaner look cruising down the road. Riding on a set of Redline Radial Tire mounted on Aluminum Wide-Rim wheels with Knock-Off Hubs, this 1964 Chevy Corvette has a gorgeous look and even better ride. The white vinyl convertible top is manually operated and its in fantastic condition. The fiberglass body on this C2 Corvette has been correctly refinished in Tuxedo Black paint, just how it came when it rolled off the St. Louis production floor and completing the exterior look of this beautiful performance car. The interior of this 1964 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible is absolutely gorgeous! The bucket seats have been correctly reupholstered in Red vinyl that provides a wonderful contrast to the exterior appearance of the car. The red carpeting, red door panels, red dash, and woodgrain steering wheel are all in wonderful condition as well and all appear to retain a nice stock appearance. Hide-A-Way headlights are another unique feature on this 1964 Corvette and both operate as they should, providing extra light when driving in the dark. The black-trimmed instrument cluster is equipped with a 160 MPH speedometer, 7,000 RPM tachometer, temperature gauge, oil pressure gauge, battery gauge and fuel gauge, along with the ignition switch, a cigarette lighter, and controls for the wipers and lights. The dash is finished off with a locking glovebox, clock, temperature controls, and a push-button Delco AM radio. Whether youre buying your very first classic Corvette or youre adding to an existing Corvette collection, this 1964 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible would make an excellent choice.
