1968 Lamborghini 400 GT 2+2 Coupe with Coachwork by Carrozzeria Touring
One of only 247 units built between 1966 and 1968, this 400GT was produced toward the end of the models run as the 223rd example produced. Given its status late in production, it featured unique details such as later-type Miura gauges. Finished in Rosso (red) over Nero (black) pigskin leathera color scheme it still carries today. Runs and drives but would benefit from servicing prior to use.
The subject of a repaint at some point in its original color, the interior remains in what appears to be lovingly preserved, original condition. It is the stuff of legend that Ferrari-owning industrialist Ferruccio Lamborghini only turned to automobile manufacture as a result of receiving off-hand treatment at Maranello, vowing to build a better car. A successful manufacturer of tractors and related machinery, Lamborghini possessed the resources to realize his dream without having to compromise. The 400GT 2+2 appeared in 1966 featuring a 4.0 liter V12 and was a 150mph-plus car with a maximum power of 320bhp. This particular machine is eligible for many fine events including the Copperstate 1000 and Mountain Mille.
