Powered by a 220hp turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-four mated to a five-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential, the 944 Turbo was launched in January of 1985, becoming the top-of-the-line model in the 944 family. With a near-perfect 50/50 weight distribution, the 944 proved to be a competent entry-level GT that was just as exciting to drive as it was to admire on a daily basis. These were fast cars for the era with 0-60 times in the five-second range and a top speed in excess of 150 mph.
