In the early 1960s Jack Dixon of Pennsylvania discovered this Model A mail truck sitting in a junk yard being used to keep hubcaps and other small parts away from prying eyes. As a Model A enthusiast he was fascinated by the unusual body and impressed by the trucks remarkable condition so made a deal to buy it. On bringing it home Dixon found it was incredibly well-preserved and began the process of carefully stripping away layers of house paint to find the original USPS lettering and the truck number 10205 still intact. After much research and studying about Model A U.S. Mail trucks Mr. Dixon sourced the few missing pieces from other original donors and treated 10205 to a full restoration which he detailed to exacting period-correct standards.After many years of enjoyment showing the Model A in AACA shows in the Pennsylvania region Dixon sold the truck and it changed hands a few times through the years though it always landed in the care of attentive collectors along the way who recognized its importance. In recent years it was displayed at the Saratoga Auto Museum for a period on loan from a significant Northeast-based collection.
