1932 Chevrolet Confederate Deluxe Convertible finished in Brown with Brown interior. Only 50 188 original miles in an 86 year old car. This is a very rare example as only 1 118 convertibles were built in the deluxe series. Powered by a 206c.i. inline six that featured Chevys first Carter Downdraft Carburetion. The engine compared to the model year prior had a higher compression ratio and hotter camshaft that created 60hp. At the time 60hp was a very powerful and viable option for those looking at something cheaper than a Cadillac who led the power and luxury market at the time. The Confederate also featured a 3-Speed manual transmission.Chevy knew what it was up against when the great depression hit and when Ford was deciding to put V8 engines in its cars. The redesign happened for Chevy in the 1930s and the Confederate took off. So much in fact that Chevy was the only GM dealer to post profits during this model year. The design of the Confederate was very similar to that of a Cadillac at the time. There was now hood doors and 4 hood ports as Chevy called them to replace the 22 louvers on each side of the hood. Overall the nickname that came from this design was the Baby Cadillac and its safe to say it works well for the car.With so much going for it already the 1932 Chevy featured 18 wheels silent synchromesh for 2nd and 3rd gear and a feature called freewheeling which was an economy-related feature in all of the Confederate models. Freewheeling was a feature that allowed a driver to take their foot off the gas pedal and allow the car to coast without any engine braking. It proved economic at the time.This example has had a complete body-off restoration and has been restored to the exact standards for the time period and model. It has won many awards including the AACA Senior Award and Vintage Chevrolet Club Senior Award with Badges.
