*1950 Dodge B2B Pickup*One of the things that makes classic cars so interesting is the story that comes along with them- even a fairly run of the mill car can become sought after if it is well documented and the story is fun to tell. This 1950 Dodge B2B Pickup Truck is the embodiment of that staying with its original owners until 2001 and having been under the care of just 3 owners in its 73 year life. The story starts when this Dodge was purchased new in Eugene OR in August 1950 from EA Mock and Sons Car Dealership by local farmers Wilhelm and Helen Reich. For 6 years the Reichs would use this Dodge Pickup to bring vegetables chicken eggs and veal to the market every other week and when it was not in use the truck would sit under a cover in the barn to insure it stayed in top condition. After the Reichs went into semi-retirement in 1956 the truck was covered and put into the barn on their new property in Creswell OR where it was used sparingly by Wilhelm and after his passing in 1974 continued to be covered and stored by his daughter and son in law (the Gowings) on their property. The story goes that the Gowings would drive the truck once a year to make sure everything was still functioning and to knock the mice out of the engine compartment. In 1993 the Gowings decided that the truck deserved to be fixed up and enjoyed once again so they sent it to Jim Peters of Peters Rods and Customs in Pleasant Hill Oregon for a restoration. Peters set to work returning the truck to its original specification with a red cab black bed and yellow wheels this trucks unique color scheme works exceptionally well on this classic shape. All of the work was done to a very high level and even though the restoration was completed in 1995 it still presents very well overall. Reportedly the family kept the truck in such good condition that very little bodywork was needed to bring it to a high level and all of the chrome and wheels are original from 1950.In the summer of 2000 the truck was purchased by its second owner when the Gowings began downsizing in their retirement. He reports that when he bought the truck not only was the engine original but it was almost entirely untouched from new and was still in decent running and driving condition. That being said upon his purchase he did replace a few items that were slightly worse for wear such as the voltage regulator master cylinder front wheel cylinders radiator and thermostat. Powered by a 218 ci flathead inline-6 this 1950 B2B produced 95 horsepower which was a significant bump over the previous years engine and moves the truck along well. Under this owners care the engine bay and undercarriage were cleaned up but outside of the few previously mentioned parts everything remains original. It is also reported that the interior of the truck is entirely original except for the rubber mat on the floor which had worn out over time. When you open the door and take a look inside this is truly hard to believe given the overall condition of not just the seat upholstery but the dashboard gauge cluster and steering wheel. These items frequently crack or discolor over time but in this truck they look used but not abused and still in outstanding condition given their age.The truck then remained with the second owner for more than 20 years where it was used sparingly and kept in the outstanding condition seen today. It finally went to its third owner in February of 2023 making the next owner just the fourth family to own this truck in over 70 years. At this time the truck shows 51 861 miles which are believed to be original and given the condition it is believable. This truck would be a great vehicle to keep at a lake house or just use around town where you will immediately stand out thanks to the red and black color scheme. If you want a truck that is truly a family heirloom opportunities like this do not come around often.*Key Features* * 3 Owners - 1 Family since NEW * One Re-Paint in 1993 * Original Red/Black Color Scheme * Original Chrome Remains On the Car * Original Engine * Original 3-Speed Gearbox * Largely Original Interior * Original Glass * Unreplicatable TruckFor more information on this 1950 Dodge B2B Pickup or any of our 150+ High-Performance Exotic Luxury and Special Interest Cars always in stock contact one of our friendly and knowledgeable sales consultants or feel free to drop by our 40 000+ sq ft of Indoor Showrooms in Bellevue WA - Home of an Exciting Inventory of Luxury Exotic High Performance and Collectible Automobiles.
