1955 Chevrolet 3100 Cameo Ton Pickup Truck for sale! Motorcar Classics is pleased to present this fully restored Cameo presented in White with Red interior and full wood bed. 1955 was the first year of the Cameo pickup. In 1954, Chuck Jordan (who would go on to become vice president of GM design) presented Chevy executives with a design for a new luxury truck. It was based on the all-new Task Force trucks, but with different bumpers, and a smooth-sided bed attached to the cab. They quickly gave the truck the green light. The production Cameo (sold as the Cameo Carrier) differed from Jordans original design in a few ways. Chevrolet contracted Molded Fiber Glass of Ohio to build the special Cameo panels out of fiberglass, right alongside the Corvette. Taillights from the outgoing 54 Bel Air would cap small tailfins out back. Chrome Bel Air hubcaps, whitewall tires, contrast-colored B-pillar, and stylish (for a pickup) fiberglass and chrome bumpers capped things off.
This example was purchased by its current owner in 2017 out of a barn in Connecticut. Most of the restoration work was then completed by Erics AutoBody in Enfield, Connecticut from 2018-2022. Roughly $100,000.00 in parts/labor went into the restoration. The car is powered by its believed to be numbers matching 235 CI blue flame six cylinder engine, along with a column-shifted 3-speed manual transmission. This is one of the nicest examples we have seen yet and is in showcar condition. Your inspection is invited!
