1956 Ford Fairlane Sunliner

Price: USD $49,995

This 1956 Ford Fairlane Sunliner is a gorgeous two-tone Convertible that youll sure love! In the 1955 model year, Ford introduced its new Fairlane models that replaced the old Crestline models as Fords top-of-the-line passenger car. Named for Henry and Clara Fords 1,300 acre Fair Lane Estate located in Dearborn, Michigan, the Ford Fairlane came with nicer trim and more standard features than the entry level Mainline or even the mid-level Customline. Additionally, the new 55 Fairlanes featured a brand new design that completely distinguished the Fairlane from the old Crestline models. Most notably, the new Fairlane models sported longer, lower, and wider bodies, along with special V shaped side trim along the belt line. The 1956 Fairlane was modestly updated from the previous iteration and came equipped with a number of desirable upgrades. Significantly, the electrical systems were upgraded from a 6 volt system in 1955 to a new 12 volt electrical system that made the 56 Fords start up more reliably and improved the other electrical systems across the car, such as lighting, better and more dependable. Another key update in 1956 was the redesigned instrument cluster and steering wheel since customers complained in 1955 that the transparent speedometer was hard to read. Stylistically, the 56 Fords also saw modest changes. Up front, new oval driving lights replaced the old round lenses and provided for a more elegant looking front end. The side trim was also enlarged a bit so as to give the new 56 Ford Fairlane more presence whether parked or cruising down the road. In the rear, the 56 Fairlane actually had less chrome trim than the 1955 models which provided a cleaner look in the back. This particular 56 Ford Sunliner comes to us from a southern-based collector who owned this car for the past 37 years and who is believed to have purchased the car from its original owner. Powering this 1956 Ford Sunliner is a 292 Cubic Inch V8 engine fed by a single 4 barrel carburetor that together were said to have created 200 horsepower when new. Exhaust exits this Fords power plant via dual exhaust setup that generates a terrific throaty sound out of the rear tailpipes. The Y-Block V8 is backed by an automatic transmission that makes this 56 Ford Convertible an easy car for just about anybody to drive. Equipped with a 12 volt electrical system, this 1956 Sunliner starts up with ease and the overall electrical operation is much improved as well. The white vinyl power convertible top appears to be in wonderful condition and it goes up and down with the simple pull or push of a button. Riding on a set of wide whitewall bias tires mounted on steel wheels with full wheelcovers, this 56 Ford Sunliner has a gorgeous look whether cruising down the road or parked at the local car show. The rear wheels are also tucked behind a pair of fender skirts further adding to the Fifties flair on this classic Ford ragtop. Squeezing into a tight parking space at the ice cream parlor is made much easier with the addition of this 56 Fords chrome side mirrors that are mounted atop the front fenders. The exterior is correctly finished in a two-tone paint scheme consisting of Fiesta Red and Colonial White, just how the car came off the Dearborn, Michigan assembly line. The interior of this 1956 Ford Fairlane Sunliner looks fabulous! The front and rear bench seats are correctly upholstered in Red and White vinyl. The matching red carpeting, upholstered door panels, padded dash, and steering wheel are all in great shape and all appear to retain a nice stock appearance. The instrument cluster comes outfitted with a 120 MPH speedometer, temperature gauge, fuel gauge and clock, along with indicator lights for oil pressure and generator operation. The dash is finished off with the heat/defroster controls, an ashtray, locking glovebox, and push-button AM radio. Whether youre adding to your established collection of Blue Oval Classics or
