*1961 Chevrolet Impala Custom*1961 saw the introduction of the third-generation Chevrolet Impala- with a sleeker body style and a unique hardtop featuring curved pillars it became known as the bubble top. Standing as Chevrolets flagship passenger car the Impala design was a sign of things to come in the brands lineup and influenced the styling of all the models below it in the coming years. This 1961 Impala bubble top is particularly unique having just undergone a comprehensive restoration and customization where it was updated and improved with no stone left unturned.The exterior design of this generation Impala is a huge factor in its desirability and this example turns up the visual excitement element dramatically. A professionally finished two-tone paint scheme emphasizes the chrome trim line down the middle of the car separating the glowing orange top section and the cream-white lower half of the car. The original door handles have been replaced by a special set of flush-fit units by Kindig-It and are paired with keyless entry. A set of striking Budnik chrome wheels with low-profile tires fill the arches. Bucket seats both front and rear have been installed and the center console flows rearward up to the parcel shelf to give a real cockpit-style seating experience for the rear passengers. The gauges have been upgraded with a digital readout from Dakota Digital and the steering wheel is a 4-spoke wood-rimmed unit with a billet center. In an effort to build a car that you can use for more than just driving to and from shows cruise control power steering air conditioning and a backup camera all improve usability and make the driving experience more enjoyable.The modifications did not stop with visual enhancements either. Under the hood lies an LS3 crate motor with custom valve covers and intake plenum painted to match the orange and cream exterior. A beautiful set of exhaust manifolds send the exhaust back to a set of side pipes that subtly exit just in front of the rear wheels. The engine bay has been shaved with a clean firewall that houses little more than a billet brake reservoir there to power the 4-wheel Wilwood disc brakes. All of the accessories on the front of the engine are chrome plated and to show the attention to detail present in the build even the radiator has been painted in the same cream color as the lower half of the car. A 4L70E automatic transmission puts the power down and offers smooth shifts and is easy to have serviced at any Chevrolet shop.Included with the sale is a pair of build binders documenting the extensive process of putting this car together.
