This 1962 Chevrolet Impala Convertible is a nice running and driving convertible with fantastic curb appeal! In 1962, Chevrolet offered four distinct car lines, the European-inspired compact Corvair, the brand-new American compact Chevy II, the performance-oriented sportscar Corvette, and the full-size passenger car line that seemingly lined the streets of America. The full-size line consisted of three sub-series including the entry-level Biscayne, the intermediate Bel Air, and the top-of-the-line Impala. 1962 was a major turning point with regards to Chevrolet design, with the GM marques complete redesign of its full-size passenger car line. In fact, except for the door panels, all of the sheet metal used on Chevys full-size cars was completely new and this new design philosophy really took the look of the full-size Chevys from the 50s into the 60s. The front end treatment was flatter and boxier than the previous years design, incorporating a new-look grille and headlight housing. The side profile was also modernized with new body lines and now featured a full length side trim with a color-contrasting insert. The rear end look of the 1962 Chevrolet were also completely redesigned however Chevrolet continued to differentiate the Impala from the lower-level sub-series with the Impalas being adorned with a three taillights on each side. The interiors were also considerably refreshed and featured a gorgeous design and improved options. The engine-turned trimmed dash also contains a push-button AM radio and ash-tray that sit above a locking glovebox. An AM/FM/Cassette entertainment system along with an auxillary oil pressure gauge are tucked neatly under the dash as well.
