1964 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III Fixed Head Coupe
Coachwork by H.J. Mulliner, Park Ward
Finished in Garnet with Beige leather interior, this previously restored Chinese Eye Silver Cloud III was built new for the American market and specified to U.S. specifications with a radio, electric antenna, plain Sundym glass all around, electric windows in both doors, and whitewall Firestone tires . According to copies of the factory build records, LSFU123 was delivered to Mulliner, Park Ward on December 9, 1963, completed for delivery on March 12, 1964, and swiftly loaded aboard the good ship Media in Liverpool the next day, bound for New York City. The original owner was Fred W. Graupner of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, who bought the car through J.S. Inskip on July 11, 1964. Graupner only retained his Rolls for two months, trading it in on September 24, 1964. The history from there is not documented, but the car appears to have very shortly thereafter come into the collection of Robert Frank of Delray Beach, Florida. Frank would retain the car for decades, listing it for sale in The Flying Lady in the summer of 2002. Describing the car as a two owner machine, the ad at the time stated the Rolls featured updated air conditioning, new leather, wood, carpets, headliner, and tires, and was in excellent condition. The Rolls was acquired by the previous owner just under a decade ago and has been on static display ever since. Mechanical recommissioning is recommended prior to active road use. A rare and stylish Rolls-Royce, this regal coupe will no doubt provide ample enjoyment to its next fortunate owner.
