Just in time for summer camping in complete style, this bright green 1978 Volkswagen Bus with the Westfalia Camper has arrived at MotoeXotica Classic Cars. This Westy fortunately still retains most of its original green plaid interior. It has not yet suffered from a custom Pintrest project from a previous owners wife, as we have seen with many Westfalia buses as of late. The exterior is finished in correct Sage green and the top has recently been refurnished to correct standards and is included with the original plaid bed. This Westy is ready to enjoy as the values are steadily increasing, as we are now paying double for these T2 Westfalia buses from the ones we purchased just 3 short years ago

Finished in brilliant Sage Green (code L63H) with Pastell White roof (code L90D) and accents, this late bays paint and trim are in overall very good condition. The glass is in good order, include the rear window with its rear defroster grid. The vans lights are in similar condition, including its Hella headlights, are clear and intact.

The bus body is solid and straight while the engine bay is tidy and the original green sage paint is still present in the engine compartment. This van sports a new camper top along with a factory detachable table, stove and sink. The cargo area looks great with a small mattress and shelving unit over the engine compartment. Also included with the hard to find original front cab child cot

This Bay rolls on Hankook Optimo radials, size 205/70R14 at all four corners, and each tire surrounds a steel wheel topped by a full factory vented moon wheel cover with a cap and white beauty rings. The wheels and tires look great.

Out back is a 2.0L flat fourcylinder engine, with a twobarrel carburetor, and which featured hydraulic valve lifters, eliminating the need to periodically adjust the valve clearances as on earlier models. Nineteen seventyeight was the first year for electronic ignition, utilizing a hall effect sensor and digital controller, eliminating maintenancerequiring contactbreaker points. As with all Transporter engines, the focus in development was not on power, but on lowendtorque. The Type 4 engines were reportedly more robust and durable than the Type 1 engines, particularly in Transporter service. Buttoned to this motor is a fourspeed manual transmission. This late bay has front disc and rear drum brakes.

Inside, the upholstery is done Camping Green Yellow Plaid (code 34) and is still overall original. The highbacked front buckets are in good order overall, as is the black carpeting. The original twospoke factory steering wheel is present and looks good. The inner door panels are in decent order while the dash is in very good order, complete with VDO gauges. The shift lever is topped by a wood VW knob. In back, theres a factory table, sink and stove, along with extra seating and storage. Rounding out the interior is a Kenwood AM/FM stereo with CD player but is currently inoperable. The Westfalia Caamper tops fabric and screens are in good condition and zip up as they should.
