*1979 Porsche 930 Turbo - Formerly Owned by Rock Legend Chris Cornell*Finished in Silver over Cork Leather this 930 has been in the greater Seattle area for decades and has sold through Park Place Ltd. multiple times since 2005. The known history of this car begins in 1996 where it was owned by a Seattle area enthusiast and collector who cherished the car for a few years before selling it on. At this point the car was purchased by legendary Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell who added it to his personal collection for a number of years and sold it in 2003. The car was then purchased by another local area collector for the first time who owned and cherished the car for two years before selling it through Park Place Ltd for the first time in 2005. After selling quickly the car came back through Park Place Ltd in 2007 at which point the previous owner bought the car back and owned it until fall of 2022 when it was sent to Park Place Ltd once more and sold to the current consignor. It is no exaggeration to say that this car is exceptionally presented and carries a number of special signatures throughout that have been added by prior owners along the way. About 25 years ago the car received a respray in its factory Silver by local paint and body experts Queen City Auto Rebuild and it still shows absolutely stunningly. The centers of the 16 Fuchs wheels were painted to match under Cornells ownership and have been kept that way as they suit the overall look of the car perfectly and are a fitting tribute to his ownership. In the mid-2000s the car underwent a comprehensive top-end rebuild carried out by a master technician at Bellevue Porsche. Sparing no expense the rebuild included new valves valve guides valve springs ARP rod and head bolts shot peened rods and new fuel injectors. At the same time a sought after GHL stainless exhaust was sourced and added along with a new Teal wastegate which helps add some power and makes the car sound outstanding. Since this work was completed the car has been driven less than 10 000 miles and has to be one of the best running and driving 930s anywhere.Although this car has never been completely restored the series of careful owners have all gone to great lengths to keep the car in stunning condition and anytime something needed improvement it was carried out by the best in the business. Over time some of the major jobs completed include new sunroof rails new factory headliner (which requires removal of all glass in the car) and new seat listing and seat foam installed in the original leather covers giving the car a factory fresh looking interior-even almost 45 years after it was produced. Regardless of if you give this car a quick look or spend hours examining every detail you will be hard pressed to find a 930 that looks and functions as well as this example. It is without doubt that the 930 made its mark on the automotive landscape when it was introduced. When Porsche first put their turbocharged 911 (known as the 930) on sale in 1975 it made major waves in the European supercar market. It was the first car of its type to rely on turbocharging to make power keeping up with the fastest Ferraris and Lamborghinis on sale at the time while maintaining the practicality and reliability that the 911 had become known for. In 1978 the 930 was improved with the addition of an intercooler which allowed for more boost and far greater tunability in the aftermarket and along with the new intercooler came the legendary large rear spoiler which everyone associates with 911s of the 1970s and 1980s. Produced in 1979 this 930 features a long storied ownership history as well as some desirable upgrades that turn it into a true one of a kind collectors item. The 911 Turbo remains one of Porsches most sought after vehicles today and the majority of manufacturers the 930 was competing against when it was new have since moved to turbocharging as well. This example stands head and shoulders above the rest thanks to a string of supremely enthusiastic owners who have done whatever it takes to ensure that this icon was as good as it could possibly be. When you combine this with both celebrity and long term Seattle area ownership this is an unreplicatable car with a great story to tell your friends when you become its next enthusiastic owner.*Additional Information* * Porsche COA * Original Owners Manual * Extensive Documentation to Late 1990s * Some Spare Parts * Recent Oil Service Completed*Standard Features* * 3.3 Liter Turbocharged Flat-6 * 296 Horsepower * 304 Lb-Ft of Torque * Air-to-Air Intercooler * 4-Speed Manual Gearbox * Fuchs Alloy Wheels * Leather Interior * Power Windows * 4 Wheel Disc Brakes * Anti-Roll Bars * Sport Suspension * AM/FM Cassette StereoFor more information on this 1979 Porsche 930 or any of our High-Performance Luxury Exotic and Special Interest cars always in stock contact one of our friendly and knowledgeable sales consultants or always feel free to drop by our 40 000+ sq ft of Indoor Showrooms in Bellevue WA - Home of an Exciting Inventory of Luxury Exotic High Performance and Collectible Automobiles.
