*1990 BMW 325is*Since the 1960s BMW has been on the forefront of the sport sedan segment and their 3-Series has been the car to lead that charge since its introduction in 1977. The E30 chassis was the second generation of 3-Series which debuted in 1982 and has gone on to become one of the most beloved cars in the automotive world-with a cult following like few other vehicles. The simple yet elegant 3-box design is paired with a sporty suspension and absolutely exceptional build quality-all of which made the car both fun to drive and very durable. The E30 came with numerous engine options with varying levels of sporting nature but the M20 Inline-6 that was put into all of the 325s has now become notorious for its smooth rev-happy character ability to put up with hours of abuse in endurance racing and large aftermarket for performance parts. Since the cars introduction series like Spec E30 have been developed which helped grow the aftermarket for performance parts even further to the point where E30s are some of the most modifiable cars around.This 1990 BMW 325is is a perfect example of somebody making an E30 their own. The is specification was the sport package added on to a standard 325 and included special features like a unique lower front air dam limited slip differential and sport seats. Starting with an already nice example this vehicle has been heavily upgraded by well known local shops KD Motors and Accuracy Automotive and was built into a fantastic dual purpose street/track car. Starting with the suspension the stock pieces have been replaced with Eibach adjustable springs and Koni dampers all the bushings were replaced and new toe links and control arms were fitted. In addition camber plates were added in front to help dial in a proper alignment and the front rear subframes were both powder coated in blue and crucially an AAR skidplate was added to the front to save the E30s notoriously vulnerable oil pan. In the rear a Wave Track limited slip differential with updated gearing and BimmerWorld finned differential cover give the car better acceleration and help keep the gears cool. The original engine remains mostly stock but has a chip for increased power and throttle response and a cold air intake that deletes the Mass Air Flow Sensor which helps the car breathe more easily. To help let out more of the classic BMW inline-6 rasp a new ceramic coated header has been installed along with a chrome cat back exhaust that makes the car sound fantastic.On the exterior the metallic blue paint presents beautifully and is set off by a set of bi-functional clear and amber headlights and a European style front license plate setup. In an effort to reduce weight on the car a set of lightweight 15 Beyern wheels shod in Toyo Proxes tires have been installed and a second set of Enki track wheels are also included in the sale. On the inside a set of Sparco R100 bucket seats give the driver and passenger extra lateral support and give the interior a very purposeful look-the very desirable standard sport seats will also be included with the car if the stock look is preferred. Although this is a track oriented build the owner has elected to keep both the air conditioning- which was recently recharged- and upgrade the stereo with a Kenwood head unit for added day to day comfort and usability. To truly understand the hype behind the E30 you need to get behind the wheel and drive one and this is a perfectly set up example to extract everything that is great about the chassis.
