That is what happened with this 1966 Chevelle - starting its life as a Chevelle Malibu the SS trim was added around the vehicle and the smaller-displacement V8 was swapped out in favor of a 454 ci unit that puts the original SS396 engine to shame.This 1966 Chevelle Sport Coupe is finished in Regal Red over Black vinyl interior and benefits from a complete restoration by a previous owner in the 2010s. Originally Madeira Maroon this car received a high quality repaint in this eye-catching shade of bright red at which time the SS-style badging was fitted around the vehicle along with the SS-specific hood vents. A set of headers have been installed that run into a 3-inch stainless steel exhaust giving this car the muscle car sound everyone wants on a car like this. The cooling system has also been improved thanks to a new expansion tank and a pair of electric fans. This powerplant is connected to a 4-speed Muncie M22 Rock Crusher manual gearbox which sends power to the rear wheels via a 10-bolt rear axle.
